THIS IS THE 100th POST OF VOLGORIAN CABALSETTE! ALL HAIL ME!
After the (18 + x/365) project last year, in 2011 I'd like to do my own Project 365 (its common name). I don't really know how to personalize the name of the project so it really fits my needs, but I guess, "What's in a name? That which we call rose by any other name would smell as sweet." I do really want to find a name, though, just not now.
Anyway, this was supposed to be a lone project, I me mine, doing it like the (18 + x/365). But then again, why not share the fun? To my knowledge, I have several colleagues this year: Anissa Paramita Gunarso, Erwanda Desire Budiman, Rizky Satrio Nugroho, Panji Caraka Djani, Anindita Prameswari Rangkuti, Dimas Yusuf Hassan, Irfan Prawiradinata, Muthia Khairunnisa Noesjirwan, Paramezwari Atila Sugandi, Adinda Khairina, Arninda Farindia Sudibyo, and Ghalila Tania Gumai. Should I be wrong, please do correct me.
The task is simple. A self-portrait every day, using any form of camera, no rules. There are some suggestions that I would like to share though.
1. Photos should be named with a "MM DD" format
M stands for Month, D stands for Date. For example, July 21 should be transposed to "07 21". Why the zero and why the month is put first? You see that the computer will arrange 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 after 1, which will create a wrong order of the images. 01 02 03 is the way to prevent it, the zero is the key. The date is typed as the latter because you don't want to find "21 07" next to "21 06". That's one month gap you got.
2. Use the same position
If your intention was to monitor changes and to make it look good as a .gif object at the end of this year, then this suggestion is a no brainer. If your intention was to dig how creative you are, then do it freestyle.
3. Decide a theme and find a reason why
I, for example, have a "Pre-Sleep" theme. Why? The darker side of me will explain that if I don't wake up the next morning, people will see the most recent me. The brighter side of me will explain that how bad a day is, at the end of it I should face the camera and put a big smile upon my face. Deep enough?
Note that on special occasions this theme may be neglected. Like if I go to Paris, whoa, I'd rather put the Eiffel behind me, mate!
4. Give it a finishing touch
Doing this project is no big deal, you just need a bit self-discipline and motivation. Every living person could do it. The finishing is another story. As Steve Jobs said, "Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower." By the 11th month, we should have found the true meaning of this project to each. By then, we'll know what to do.
So far, those are things I could think of. If there are more, I'll surely add them. Until then, see you!
Oh, and it's not too late to join us!
Cheers, mate. :)
